Why do I write?

Why do I write? As a small child I would lay awake at night asking God the why questions and try to figure out the beginning to the end! It just made my brain hurt. I started reading and studying the Bible in earnest when I was 18 and have never stopped. In those early days I lost my old friends, and my family worried about me because I had undergone such a radical transformation when I fell in love with Jesus. Life goes on and I am happy to report that my family is ok with me now—I think. When my grown children began asking deep theological and apocalyptic questions of me, I started writing. My books are written to them in a style they can enjoy and understand. Albert Einstein said “If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.” I agree with that.

Interview With The Author

RS: tell us what inspired you to write?

DO: Lots of questions from my children. There has always been so much misinformation out there about God and this has bothered me since I was a young woman in my 20’s. I know God, and He is not like the rumors. He embodies nobility and honor. He is genius and yet personable. To know Him is to know the most fascinating Person in existence. You want everyone to know Him. It’s time to know God – really. Not the ridiculous characterizations but the truth. This really scares satan. I am sure he is freaking right now – his worst nightmare is that God will be shown for who He really is.

RS: How did you decide to write God first person?

DO: I wrote the book as a teaching and then as a story and it was still not as clear as what I saw it in my spirit. What’s the point of writing anything if it does not communicate clearly? It took courage to plow through the powerful voices of opposition. First I had to deal with my own conditioned mind that told me I was arrogant for thinking I could write a book in this way. I spent a lot of time in prayer and God really worked on me. I could say so much…maybe another time. Then once I wrote it God first person, I had to work through the voices of concern coming from people I really respect. In the end, I knew I had heard from God. I jumped off the cliff in faith and kept it as is.

RS: What do you hope to accomplish with this book?

DO: I want to give the next generation a place to start with God that is free from the ignorance that I had to overcome. I want to give the world a simple and powerful exposition on the true meaning of life. I want the Holy Spirit to move upon the reader and impart deep revelation that is life changing. I want the truth about God to be known so that the earth can shift into her greatest hour.
